1B Football: Wahkiakum waltzes to first home playoff win since 2005

The way the Wahkiakum Mules see things, if you’re gonna make fans wait a full generation between home playoff games you might as well make it a worthwhile experience for the fine folks of Washington’s smallest county. So, hosting their first playoff contest since 2006 the Mules went out and earned their first home playoff win since 2005 with a 56-16 victory over Darrington, Saturday, in Cathlamet.
The Mule Barn has always been a tough place to play for visiting teams. Even if Wahkiakum’s current coaching staff was on the team the last time the Mules were able to celebrate a postseason victory like it’s Eagle Days in November.
“It was definitely a different atmosphere,” Wahkiakum coach Ryan Lorenzo said. “It was good to see the band start to rally up the team a little bit. Our team hasn’t been in a lot of pressure situations.”
