For the second straight week the Lumberjacks knew they would be facing a stiff, physically imposing defense with playoff implications on the line, and unfortunately for the Lumberjacks, it yielded a similar result. Washougal’s defense proved to be too much to overcome in a 28-0 loss at Longview Memorial Stadium on homecoming night.
The loss marked the second straight week the Jacks were unable to get on the scoreboard. Overall, it was the third straight loss endured by R.A. Long (3-4, 2-3) since they saw a three-game winning streak snapped at Columbia River in Week 5.
Fear not, though, Lumberjacks fans — There is still a lot to play for over the next two weeks and there are scenarios that can still see R.A. Long crash into the postseason. One thing is for certain, the Jacks will need cleaner starts to their games and in order to avoid falling into the sort of hole that’s proven impossible to climb out of recently.
“Yeah, it’s really early field position that has been our problem and our defense plays a lot better when opposing offenses have to go the length of the field,” said coach Jon Barker..
