NATT COURT – It wasn’t the prettiest basketball game that has ever been played, but in a loser-out game the aesthetics are entirely beside the point. So, playing on their home floor in their baby blue “away” jerseys, the Mark Morris girls basketball team cobbled together a no-frills 48-30 win over Washougal in the 2A District IV Tournament, Monday, at Bakamus Gymnasium.
To be fair, the Monarchs had never envisioned this game as part of their quest to get out of the district tournament and back to Regionals. But after a misstep in their postseason opener at Black Hills last Friday, Mark Morris was back on its home floor and was in no position to pick nits.
They just needed to win. And so they made sure they did. One way or the other.
“You don’t really want to have silver linings, because that means something’s gone wrong, but it was really nice for our seniors to get one last go round here,” Mark Morris coach Sean Atkins said.
