2A Prep Girls Basketball: Woodland felled by Columbia River in regular season finale

HAZEL DELL—If one had walked into Columbia River’s slightly-yellow-tinted gym Thursday, they might have thought they’d stumbled across a misplaced Woodland home game. Green-and-black-attired fans filled well over half the stands in support of the road team in their regular season finale.
But the Rapids’ now back-to-back-to-back 2A GSHL champion girls basketball team has seen a thing or two, and the pseudo-road crowd couldn’t push Woodland over the top in a 50-42 River win that finally decided the league title.
“Our fans came. We doubled their crowd at their place. That’s what small schools are about,” Woodland head coach Glen Flanagan said. “It was fun, it was a good atmosphere.
“Wish we would’ve played a little better, but they have good players so it seemed like every time we needed to make up some ground, one of their players hit a big-time shot.”
