TOUTLE — If you happened to be one of the hundreds of folks who braved a bright hunter’s moon and overconfident deer along a fog-lit backroad Thursday night to see some Central 2B League volleyball in East Cowlitz County it’s fair to say you got your money’s worth.
It’s also fair to say the contest between the hometown Fighting Ducks and the visitors from over the hill in Toledo was as much about who would make the last mistake as it was about who would take the money and run.
With unforced errors, especially at the service stripe, sabotaging the momentum for both teams it was clear from the onset that the match was destined for five sets. Toutle Lake opened up with a win in extra points in the first set and went on to take the contest by scores of 27-25, 23-25, 25-18, 20-25, and 15-8.
“We were all a little off,” Toutle Lake setter Kendal Dean.
