Kyle Gruhler has found his stride as a junior guard at the University of Montana-Western in Dillon.
Gruhler, a former standout at Lower Columbia College who played as a prep at Vancouver's Skyview High, exploded for 32 points, two rebounds and two assists for the Bulldogs in a recent 78-69 victory over Carroll College. He made an impressive 13-of-16 shots including 2-5 from outside the 3-point arc, and hit 4-5 free throws.
In a 67-65 loss to the University of Providence, Gruhler notched a double-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds and two blocked shots. On the season, Gruhler is averaging 16.1 points and 6.9 rebounds, and has scored in double-digits in 12 of 15 games played.
R.A. Long grad Cavin Holden went off for a career-high 35 points, two assists and two steals as Central Washington University turned away Alaska-Fairbanks 93-74 in Alaska. Holden recorded 1.06 points per minute in his 33 minutes on the court. His teammate, ex-Mark Morris and LCC standout, Kobe Parlin added three points and two rebounds.
