George sets school record at GCU
Woodland's Lucy George wasted little time kicking her senior outdoor track season into high gear at Grand Canyon University in Arizona.
George, a senior at GCU, threw the javelin 151-feet-1 to set a school record in finishing fourth at the Willie Williams Classic held in Tucson. Her toss bettered the old school mark of 148-1 1/2.
"We started off right away with a bang on Friday with Lucy's school record in the javelin," GCU head coach Tom Flood said on the school's website after the Willie Williams Classic.
George also grabbed a fourth place finish in the javelin with a toss of 140-8 at the Battle of the Beach in Long Beach, Calif.
