Holden, Parlin stepping up for CWU
A pair of Longview crosstown prep rivals have teamed for success as sophomores on the basketball backcourt at Central Washington University.
R.A. Long grad Cavin Holden is ranked fourth in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in assists at 4.5 per game, and is 13th in steals at 1.4, and 14th in scoring at 13.9.
In an 83-80 loss to Northwest Missouri State, Holden had 27 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals, and had 15 points in an 85-78 setback to Northwest Nazarene University.
Ex-Mark Morris and Lower Columbia College standout Kobe Parlin had six points and two assists, and Holden added six points, four assists and two rebounds for the Wildcats in a 102-61 win over Lincoln University of Oakland, California.
Two South Cowlitz County sophomore standouts have had recent solid outings for the Clark College Penguins of Vancouver. Kalama's Jackson Esary had 25 points and four rebounds, and Woodland's Beau Swett chipped-in nine points and two rebounds in a 93-87 win over South Puget Sound.
