Swett shines on the court for Clark
The heroics of Woodland's Beau Swett at the end of regulation and in the closing seconds of an extra session made the difference for the Clark College men's basketball team in a recent 109-107 overtime victory over Lane College of Eugene.
Swett, a sophomore guard, drilled a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 100-100 and send it into overtime. In the extra period, Swett blocked a potential game-winning shot with one second left to preserve the victory for the Penguins and elevated them alone atop the NWAC South Region standings. Swett finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Kalama's Jackson Esary, also a sophomore guard with Clark, added 28 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Against Southwestern Oregon the Penguins saw Swett score 21 points, grab seven rebounds, dish three assists and swipe four steals, while Esary added 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and five steals in a 69-60 win.
