Block Party — Fallon ties Toledo record in win over Mounties; and the rest of the action

The final result didn’t mean anything as far as the standings were concerned, but Toledo made sure to assert its recent dominance in a 71-61 win over Rainier (WA) in their Central 2B League finale, Monday, at Murdock Gymnasium.
Cooper Fallon made sure to make the most of the final home game on the schedule by scoring a team-high 18 points to go with 13 rebounds and three assists. What’s more, Fallon tallied six blocks, bringing his season total up to 100, and tying Westin Wallace (2019) for the most blocks in a single season for Toledo.
One thing that’s allowed the Riverhawks to be so successful this season is Fallon’s availability. He’s done a great job of playing straight up and down and avoiding foul trouble that can oftentimes haunt shot blockers in the paint. But late in the game against the Mounties, he tried to send one shot all the way back to South Thurston County and instead drew a foul with a loud smack to the shooter’s hand.
“I think he knew he was getting close,” Toledo coach/Cooper’s dad, Grady Fallon said. “I pulled him out and told him, ‘Hey, that’s your fourth foul and we’re up by 14. We need you out there more than we need that block…. We’ve got a solid 5-6-7, but if he’s in foul trouble we don’t have anybody close to his size.”
