The Rock gets defensive to stop La Center
The Rockets did not play a pretty game on Tuesday night on LeBaron Court. There were few highlights to speak of and the scorebook had more empty circles than big black dots, but that doesn’t mean Castle Rock was left without anything to celebrate. After all, the final score in their tilt with La Center was 57-54, which is really all that matters in the zero sum game of 1A Trico boys hoops.
So how bad were those shooting stats?
“Terrible,” Castle Rock coach Jordan Spencer said. “If you look at the stas we should not have won this game.”
The longer you look, the more that statement makes sense.
The Rockets hit 7 of 20 shots from long distance, but connected on just 12 of 42 attempts from inside the arc. And it was arguably worse at the free throw line, where Castle Rock knocked down only 12 of 32 freebies.
But they did win. And that’s all the Rockets and Wildcats will remember the next time they meet.
