Rockets come to together to top Tenino in pigtail playoff

The Castle Rock girls basketball team earned entry into the double elimination portion of the 1A District IV girls basketball tournament with a 50-48 win over Tenino, Monday, in a pigtail playoff game at LeBaron Court.
The victory for the hosts was truly one of those “team efforts” that sets off the cliche alarm for seasoned reporters and editors of all stripes. But what else is there to call a two-point victory in a do-or-die contest where nine Rockets scored but none reached double digits.
“Tonight was an all-around team win. Every girl that stepped on the floor scored and rebounded,” Castle Rock coach Jordan Garbe said. “Tenino came to play tonight, kudos to them for their hard work and making it to this point in the season.”
The victory advanced the Rockets to the district tournament for the second season in a row.
“It’s amazing for our team and the community,” Garbe noted. “We really appreciate how so many people came out to support us tonight.”
