‘Nooks top Rockets to wrap regular season

Kalama put on a strong showing for a swollen crowd at Simmons Court, Thursday, with a 58-46 win over Castle Rock to wrap up the 1A Trico League slate.
On senior night for the Chinooks it was Aubrey Doerty who took the opportunity to flex for the home fans with a triple-double that included 21 points, 13 rebounds and 10 steals. She also dished six assists and posted four blocks for good measure.
And when the ‘Nooks entered the fourth quarter leading by just four points, it was Doerty who racked up nine points in the final eight minutes to help withstand a furious final charge by the Rockets.
“Aubrey had a huge night with a triple double fighting through two and three defenders for buckets as she has been doing for the last half of the season,” Kalama coach Amber Doerty said of her daughter. “She had some important steals in the fourth quarter that locked down the game for us.”
