Willis’ full score sends Tigers over Portland Adventist
Clatskanie was able to get back on the sunny side of the street with a 49-20 win at home over Portland Adventist, Tuesday, in a non-league girls basketball tilt.
Lace Willis led the Tigers with a double-double that included 20 points, 13 steals and five rebounds, and the hosts ran out to a 26-14 lead at halftime.
It was a nice return on investment for Clatskanie after a run of sour luck lately. The Tigers started off the season under old-coach-turned-new-coach Dawn Warren with two wins before dropping four in a row entering the game against Portland Adventist.
“We knew that we would take some knocks in the preseason as we adjust to new roles and responsibilities, but the girls have done everything we've asked them to do and put complete trust in us,” Warren noted. “After each game, as a team, we analyze game film to figure out what our next steps will be. The girls are eager to learn in order to improve and are starting to put that knowledge to use.”
With two girls posting double-doubles in the victory, and another coming up just one rebound shy, it was clear that at least some of those lessons have begun to show fruit on the floor.
