Bockert stacks stats for Beavers in win over Spuds
Fans in attendance at Ridgefield on Wednesday night may have been witness to history when Woodland’s Kennedy Bockert posted a double-double for the ages in a 61-44 win over the Spudders.
Bockert dropped 36 points and snared 28 rebounds for the Beavers in the 2A Greater St. Helens League victory and turned the Spudders’ home floor into her personal amusement park. That staggering output left every onlooker rubbing their eyes, and history buffs scrambling to dust off the record books.
“I don’t know what our school record is for points in a game or rebounds but these both might be it in the same game,” Woodland coach Glen Flanagan said. “When teams or kids have nights like that it’s almost a surreal experience.”
The Beavers doubled up the hosts in the first quarter and led 27-15 at the break. The Spuds got four points back in the third quarter, before Woodland took the air out of the gym with 22 points in the fourth quarter.
Madison Ingham led Ridgefield with 23 points. Kali Daarud and Josie Hicks each added nine points in the loss.
But nothing the Spuds could throw at the visitors was enough to get Bockert off her game. The entire experience had Flanagan talking like a kid on a sugar rush at an amusement park.
