Lassies rattle off consecutive league wins
The Kelso softball team has been playing so well that, unless you’ve been paying close attention, there’s a good chance you wouldn’t be able to guess what’s wrong. The fact is the Lassies have been playing without their ace Paityn Mackin, who suffered a lower leg injury in the early days of the season.
But with a winning record following a tough early season slate, and a 2-0 record in 3A Greater St. Helens League play, there hasn’t been much to nitpick about Kelso’s start this spring. And Kylie Killett has been, quite literally, right in the middle of it all for the Lassies.
This week Kelso earned a win by forfeit over Mountain View when the Thunder didn’t have enough players to field a team. The Lassies picked up a 3-2 win over Prairie at home to open league play.
“We had a good crowd there. It had kind of a playoff atmosphere going there because it was our first league game and we always battle every time we play them,” Kelso head coach Dean Sorensen said.
