Winning the Northwest Athletic Association men's basketball title was the pinnacle of the season for the Lower Columbia College men's basketball team, and claiming conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year kudos was icing on the cake for Mickey Polis.
Polis claimed the honor after leading the Red Devils to a 67-63 triumph over Southwestern Oregon in the conference title game. It was the first title victory for LCC since 2005 when it won the second of two consecutive NWAC crowns under former coach Jim Roffler.
